If you are a member of the LGPS and leave before becoming entitled to payment of your LGPS benefits, provided you have been a member of the Scheme for at least two years, or have transferred pension rights into the LGPS, or already have Deferred Benefits in the LGPS in England and Wales you will be entitled to deferred benefits within the LGPS.
A deferred benefit is a pension benefit that is retained in the LGPS until it becomes payable or is transferred from the Fund.
Your deferred benefit is inflation proofed and will increase each year in line with inflation.
